Bhadrapur, July 22: General life has been put off gear with transportation coming to a grinding halt today in Jhapa district following a strike enforced by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal against secularism.
The strike was also called in protest of recent suppression of RPP Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa and Constituent Assembly member Ganesh Thapa by police, the party stated. The police force has been deployed in a considerable number since the morning while untoward incidents have not taken place as of now.
The resumption of services at the government offices, which were closed since Sunday for three days of public holiday announced for public hearing on draft constitution, have also been affected due to the strike.
The strike enforcers have been chanting Hindu mantras and rhymes and blowing conch as per the traditional Hindu rituals to symbolically demand reinstatement of Hinduism as Nepal's state religion. RSS
