KHADGA
It is a kind of Sword. Used and displayed in many different ways, it carries cultural and religious values in Nepales society. It is also considered as a symbol of enlightenment, used to destroy ignorance, the enemy of liberating from the bonds of worldly attachments, hence of continuous misery. It is a special symbol of Manjushree, the god of wisdom. The sword in the hand of Manjushree is called the Prajna Khadga or the sword of wisdom which is believed to destroy the darkness of ignorance by the luminous rays issuing out of it.
KAHTMANDU VALLEY
Kathmandu Valley encircled by tall mountains and consisting of three cities of historic interest, Kathmandu, the capital of the kingdom, Patan and Bhadgaon, when viewed from the air, is oval shaped. Kathmandu Valley, the focal point of the country is now-a-days inhabited by all group of people from all over the country, highest number being those of Newar communities who are the native people of this valley. Endowed with people talented in various handicraft works, cultivation, architecture and trade, this valley is also very much favoured by nature. Surrounded by green mountains in all sides, one peep at a long range of snow peaks towards north behind green mountains. Though, kathmandu valley is trying to cope with modernity with its newly adopted various modern and scientific amenities, nature is still dominant indeed over them all in making this beautiful.
KATHMANDU
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. This metropolitan city is the biggest city of the country and one of the five municipal cities of Kathmandu valley. However, Kathmandu valley as a whole is also known as Kathmandu which includes the towns of Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Madhyapur, Kirtipur and several village development committees within Valley. Kathmandu valley the common name of the total area within the boundaries surrounded by tall mountains giving it a shape of a valley these days. Historically the whole valley used to be a lake before it was, according to the legends, cut at a point and the lake waters drained away by a Buddhist Saint Manjushree who hailed from China. KASTHAMANDAP
The wooden temple-like structure, Kasthamandap situated at the main thoroughfare of the city is now a part or a locality in Kathmandu city which is now expanded to a large area. At the time when that wooden temple was made out of timber sawed off a single tree, only the surrounding area got its name as Kathmandu which later expanded into present size of Kathmandu.
KARTIKEYA
One of the sons of Lord Shiva, Kartikeya, the god of warfare is renowned for his high speed and skill in warfare. He rides on a peacock.
KARNALI ZONE
Area: 5205 square miles. Population This largest of the 14 zones of Nepal is thinly populated. It is bounded on the north by Tibet, on the south by Bheri and Rapti zones, on the east by Dhaulagiri zone and on the west by Seti zone. Range of Hiamlayas, highlands and basins are the main features of the topography of this zone. Famous Rara lake at an altitude of nearly 10,000 ft.and important rivers like Karnali, Mugu, Humla lie in it. Sheep, goats and yaks are raised here apart from growing maize, millet, faffer, wheat, potato, etc..at various places. Minerals found in this zone are gold, beryl, mica, copper and sulfur which are yet to be exploited. Transport is a great difficulty in the zone. Humla, Mugu, Jumla and Tibrikot are the districts of this zone.
KARNALI RIVER
Karnali, the biggest river of western Nepal is the combined form of Mugu-Karnali and Humla-Karnali, the former is originated from Laddakh Himal and the latter from Tibetan region. The river is famous for its strong currents, fast speed and depth at various places.
KAPILVASTU
This is the adjacent district of Rupandehi where Lumbini gardens,the birth place of Lord Buddha is located. Naturally Kapilvastu is also associated with the life of Lord Buddha very much. In fact, Kapilvastu was the empire of King Suddhodana, father of Siddhartha Gautam who later became Lord Buddha. The remnants of the palace and many more imprtant relics are preserved in this district. Taulihawa is the capital town and population of this district is 481976 .
