Area: 4861 square miles. Bounded by Tibet region of China on the north, U.P. of India on the south, Karnali and Bheri zones on the east and Mechi zone on the west, this fairly big zone has almost all types of topography along with Byas Rishi Himal, mountains of Mahabharat range and Chure range, the valleys and the Seti river after which the zone itself is named. Rice, sugar cane, oil seeds, maize etc. are grown at various low altitude areas and plains where as fruit trees of various kinds and cattle farming are major financial sources in the Himalayan regions and high altitude mountains. Though small scale industries and cottage industries are found at various places, the zone as a whole is still lagging behind in modern industry. The districts of this zone are Bajhang, Bajura, Doti, Achham and Kailali.
