Bhairv is one of the forms of Shiva who is known by various names as Mahadev, Pashupati, Shankar, Maheswar, Narteswar, Nilkantha etc. As the most worshipped among Hindu Gods, he is the destroyer of the universe after the completion of Kaliyug, the aeon of sinners. However he has many aspects to be visualised in his incarnations and manifestations. His terrific forms are Kankala, Virbhadra and Bhairav. As Bhairav, Shiva is very popular and worshipped widely. There are many forms and features of Bhairav, each worshipped and celebrated for its diverse characteristics. There are altogether sixty-four different forms of Bhairav. See Shiva.
