A noted trade and agriculture centre of western Nepal, Bhairahawa is the headquarter of Rupendehi district of the Lumbini zone. The new name of this town is Siddhartha Nagar. Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha is in the vicinity of this town. An active trade and export centre, Bhairahawa also attracts visitors from neighbouring India as from many parts of the world. Rice, wheat, tobacco, mustard seeds, etc. are the agricultural products of Bhairahawa, which are also exported to other countries, mainly India.
