ABHIMANI

Literally, proud or arrogant, Abhimani also refers to the fire god who is angry and arrogant, over and above his godly virtues. Another name for God Abhimani is Agni which means fire. See Agni. A personified image of fire is one of the most important objects of worship since the Vedic ages when Agni was a much-worshipped deity. Agni is considered as the mediator or the link between man and the Gods. As the protector deity of people and their homes, and as witness of all their actions, fire is invocated on all solemn occasions.
