Linked with various fictitious and real stories of astounding bravery, Ganesh Man Singh was one of the prominent leaders of the revolution of 1950 which brought an end to the family autocracy of Ranas. With a long history of leadership, fighting, torture and imprisonment, he took over the leadership of another epoch making revolution of 1990 which demolished panchayat system and restored parliamentary democracy in Nepal. He then became the common, unique and topmost leader of all parties and became the father of democracy. Often tortured and beaten up almost to the points of death, he survived to become the minister of Government of Nepal at several occasions and undertake multiple leadership role in the process of reconstruction of the country. He is also known as the iron man of Nepal.
