Illiterate and impoverished Dorje to get free education until higher secondary level

Kathmandu, July 15: An illiterate and impoverished Sherpa boy from Taplejung district has been provided education opportunity for free up to the higher secondary level school.

The scholarship was announced for Dorje Sherpa in the presence of CPN (UML) Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai amid a programme organized in the capital city today.

The 10-year-old was offered scholarship by the Mount Glory School at Tahachal, Kathmandu.

Dorje was picked up and brought to the capital by the Secretary of ANNSFU, Radhika Khatiwada after he was recently featured in a national newspaper, evoking emotions among the readers due to his destituteness.

On the occasion, CPN (UML) Secretary Bhattarai underscored the need for the government to arrange scholarship to the children from the poor class. According to him, many such children in various rural areas were still deprived of education.

Principal of the Mount Glory School, Gopal Acharya shared that Dorje was offered scholarship up to ten plus two as per the School's Social Corporate Responsibility. RSS
